Paw Patrol Skye Costume

My Little Miss is currently obsessed with Paw Patrol.  She has a fancy dress party coming up so I figured I'd make her a Skye inspired costume.

It's based on the Rozzlyn Dress from Max and Meena.

I've followed the pattern except for the arm and neckbands which I've cut at 2.5 inch wide.

I've cut the skirt twice, once in cerise fabric and a second time in this sparkly purpleish netting.

Shoulder seams first.

Then the side seams.

Neck and arm bands.

I press them open for a neater finish.

Pinned in place.

Sewn and pressed.

Skirt seams.

Pined into the bodice.

Hemmed.  I went for a very simple over locked edge.

And here's the finished dress.

The mask is availible to print for free from the Nick Jr webiste.

Slow Cooked Tuscan Lamb

There's nothing better than fresh spring lamb, slow cooked to melt in the mouth perfection.

Ingredients:

Red Wine £3.59 / 2 = £1.80
Balsamic Vinegar 57p / 2 = 29p
Beef Stock 47p / 3 = 16p
Butter Beans 33p
Carrots 45p
Onions 57p
Celery 53p
Garlic 59p / 4 = 15p
Total = £11.23 / 17 portions = 66p per portion

Dice the lamb.

Finely chop the garlic.

And the onions.

Celery too.

Brown the meat and add it to the slow cooker.

Then fry the vegetables in the same oil before adding them to the slow cooker.

Chop the carrots and add them to the slow cooker.

Then the butter beans.

Four stock cubes.

Half the bottle of wine.

Give it a stir and cook on low for about 10 hours.

Severed with air fried potatoes.

Pushchair Walk - Entwistle Reservoir

It's freeezzzing cold but the worst of the snow has finally cleared and the temperatures nudged above zero so it's time for baby Pickle's first adventure.

I need to to take some time to build my postnatal fitness so I've reached for this book.  I much prefer to use a sling instead of a pram but these pushchair walks tend to be quite easy going without much in the way of bogs, styles or big hills, perfect for getting back into the swing of things.

This 3 km stroll around a reservoir is just the thing to start with.  The path is wide and flat with no need to navigate.

A little art at the half way point.

And here's the grey and dismal view from the opposite side.

I really should have walked a little closer, you can just about see one of the many reasons I babywear, even on a walk like this, the recent storms had brought down a large tree which was completely blocking the otherwise accessible path.

But with Little Pickle snuggled up nice and warm I just climbed over the tree branches.

I'm hoping to get a fair few more of these walks under my belt over the coming months.  I'm sure I'll get bored of them when I eventually build up my fitness levels but for now, nice and easy is the order of the day.

Burda 9748 Raglan T'Shirt in Blue and Pink

I love raglan shirts, they're so cute!  and even better in a contrasting fabric which is great for using up scraps and old clothes.

This particular one is made from some old pyjamas and the leftover fabric from these leggings.

Cut the interfacing and iron onto the back of the underlap.

Iron a strip of interfacing onto the left edge of the front.

Stitch underlap to left front sleeve.

Pin and sew side seams.

Stitch sleeve seams.

Set in sleeves.

Leaving underlap unsewn.

Fold neckband and stitch ends.

Sew neckband in place.

Hem sleeves and bottom.

Apply snap fasteners.

Pattern details.
